Having received Christ as our Savior and Lord and been baptized, and being in agreement with EGA’s beliefs, mission, and leadership, we now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the EGA church family. In so doing, we commit ourselves to God and the other members to do the following:
1. WE WILL PROTECT THE UNITY OF OUR CHURCH BY · Acting in love towards other members · Refusing to gossip · Following the leaders · Reconciling conflict “…love one another like members of the same family. Be kind and tender. Don’t be proud.” 1 Peter 3:8; “Don’t let any evil talk come out of your mouths. Say only what will help to build others up an meet their needs...” Eph.4:29; “Obey your leaders. Put yourselves under their authority. They keep watch over you. They know they are accountable to God for everything they do. Obey them so that their work will be a joy. If you make their work a heavy load, it won’t do you any good.” Heb.13:17
2. WE WILL SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF OUR CHURCH BY · Praying for its growth · Inviting non-Christians to attend · Warmly welcoming those who visit “We always thank God for all of you. We pray for you.” 1 Thess.1:2; “Go out to the roads. Go out to the country lanes. Make the people come in. I want my house to be full.” Luke 14:23; “So warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified.” Rom.15:7.
3. WE WILL SERVE THE MINISTRY OF OUR CHURCH BY · Discovering my gifts and talents · Being equipped to serve by my leaders · Developing a servant’s heart “Serve one another with the particular gifts God has given each of you” 1Peter 4:10 “God gave some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers to prepare God’s people for works of ministry, so that the body of Christ may be built up…” Eph.4:11-12 “Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ… a servant...” Phil. 2:3-4, 7
4. WE WILL SUPPORT THE WITNESS OF OUR CHURCH BY · Attending faithfully · Living a godly life · Giving regularly
“Let us not give up the habit of meeting together...but let us encourage one another.” Heb.10:25 “But whatever happens, make sure that your everyday life is worthy of the Gospel of Christ.” Phil. 1:27; “Each one of you, on the first day of each week, should set aside a specific sum of money in proportion to what you have earned and use it for the offering.” 1Cor.16:2
